King Air 350 Initial Training Course Overview

RTC’s King Air 350 Initial Training Course is designed for pilots seeking an initial BE-300 type rating in the Beechcraft King Air 350. Conducted in an FAA-approved Part 142 training environment, the course combines ground instruction, briefing and debriefing sessions, and Level D full flight simulator training.

Training focuses on aircraft systems knowledge, normal and abnormal procedures, emergency procedures, operational decision-making, and simulator-based flight training to prepare pilots for King Air 350 operations and FAA certification standards.

Who Is This Course For?

This course may be appropriate for pilots who:
• Are seeking an initial BE-300 PIC Type Rating OR
• Are seeking an initial BE-300 SIC Type Rating
• Are transitioning into King Air 350 operations
• Need formal King Air 350 initial training in a Part 142 environment
• Are pursuing an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, if qualified
• Need simulator-based training focused on King Air 350 aircraft systems and procedures
• Want to build proficiency in normal, abnormal, and emergency operations

Eligibility Requirements

If No ATP Certificate Is Sought

Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate with Airplane Category & Instrument Rating

Holds a Multi-Engine Land rating without centerline thrust limitation

Has Current Flight Review FAR 61.56 or 50-Hours Multi-Engine in past 6 months (may be waived at the discretion of the Center Manager)

Has a minimum of 750 hours of flight experience in airplanes (may be waived at the discretion of the Center Manager)

If an ATP certificate is sought

Holds at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Category & Instrument Rating

Holds a Multi-Engine Land rating without centerline thrust limitation

ATP CTP course completion certificate and passed the knowledge test that satisfies FAR 61.156

Meets Eligibility requirements of FAR 61.153

Meets aeronautical experience requirements of FAR 61.159

Or meets restricted privileges experience requirements of FAR 61.160

If SIC Qualification Is Sought

Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate with Airplane Category and Instrument Rating

Hold a Multi-Engine Land Rating without centerline thrust limitation

Level D Full Flight Simulator Training

Training is conducted in RTC’s FAA-qualified Level D Full Flight Simulator located in Tampa, Florida and equipped with Collins Aerospace’s Pro Line Fusion avionics. Simulator-based training allows pilots to practice in a controlled environment that supports effective learning and skill development.

Scenario-based simulator sessions reinforce:

Normal, Abnormal, & Emergency procedures
High-altitude operations
Crew coordination and communication
Aeronautical decision-making
Real-world flight scenarios
Aircraft handling and procedures

RTC maintains its simulators in-house to provide dependable training schedules and consistent simulator availability.

FAA Training Requirements

The ATP with Initial PIC Type Rating Course, if sought and qualified, leads to a BE-300 Type Rating and an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.

The course satisfies applicable training requirements of FAR §61.63, §61.55 and §61.157. In addition, portions of FAR §61.57 are also satisfied.

Flight training requirements for high-altitude operations under FAR §61.31(g)(2) are satisfied within the program.

Training is aligned with the ATP Airman Certification Standards to ensure pilots are prepared for both regulatory requirements and operational realities.
