KING AIR 350 UPGRADE / PRIOR EXPERIENCE TRAINING OVERVIEW

King Air 350 simulator training designed for pilots with previous King Air or qualifying turbine aircraft experience.

This course is intended for pilots upgrading from SIC to PIC operations, transitioning from similar aircraft, or bringing recent BE-90, BE-200, or BE-300 experience into a structured Part 142 training environment.

Who is this course for?

This course may be appropriate for pilots who:

• Have previous King Air experience
• Are upgrading from SIC to PIC operations
• Have recent BE-90, BE-200, or BE-300 flight time
• Previously completed approved King Air training
• Are transitioning from similar turbine aircraft

Course Hours

Typical course duration is approximately 5 – 7 training days and includes:

Aircraft Ground Training

16.0 hours

Briefing/debriefing

6.0 hours

Level D Full-Flight Simulator training

8.0 hours

check ride

2.0 hours

Course length may vary depending on scheduling availability and pilot experience.

Eligibility Requirements

PIlots must hold

A Private Pilot Certificate with airplane category and instrument rating

A multiengine land rating without centerline thrust limitation



IN ADDITION, ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MUST BE MET:

Hold a PIC type rating in the BE-300

Have completed 61.55 SIC training in the BE-300 and completed approved Initial or Recurrent training within the previous 13 months

Have logged at least 100 hours in the BE-90, BE-200, or BE-300 within the previous 12 months

Hold a qualifying ICAO-issued foreign pilot license with instrument rating and BE-300 PIC type rating

Additional FAA ATP eligibility requirements may apply for pilots seeking ATP certification during training.

What the Course Covers

Training focuses on practical King Air 350 operations and PIC-level proficiency, including:

  • Aircraft systems review
  • Operational procedures
  • IFR procedures and scenarios
  • Abnormal and emergency procedures
  • Crew resource management
  • PIC procedures and decision making
  • Simulator-based operational training  
  • Pro Line Fusion familiarization

Training is tailored around the pilot’s previous experience and operational background.

Level D Full Flight Simulator Training

Training is conducted in RTC’s FAA-qualified King Air 350 Level D Full Flight Simulator equipped with Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics.

Simulator training allows pilots to practice real-world procedures, emergency scenarios, and operational decision making in a controlled training environment.

FAA Training Requirements

The ATP with Initial PIC Type Rating Course, if sought and qualified, leads to a BE-300 Type Rating and an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.

The course satisfies applicable requirements of:
– FAR §61.63, FAR §61.55, FAR §61.157, FAR §61.57

Flight training requirements for high-altitude operations under FAR §61.31(g)(2) are also satisfied within the program.

Training is aligned with the ATP Airman Certification Standards to ensure pilots are prepared for both regulatory requirements and operational realities.
