This course is designed to help the gain and maintain proficiency in Twin Cessna IFR and emergency procedures. This course meets the requirements of aviation insurance companies annual training as well as requirements for IFR Recent experience 61.57(c) in make and model aircraft.
10 Hours Simulator, 8 hours classroom
Day One Morning
SOP’s (use of checklist and altitude calls)
CFIT (low visibility approach hazards)
2 hrs Simulator:
Familiarization, maneuvers, turns, climbs, descents, power & configurations, VOR tracking, VOR approach
Day One Afternoon
2 hrs Classroom:
ATC and Emergencies (what can ATC do?)
Multi-Engine Departure (engine failure procedures/take-off)
2 hrs Simulator:
IFR Procedures, ILS, VOR, GPS approaches, and holding
Day Two Morning
2 hrs Classroom:
Aircraft Systems – powerplant, electrical, fuel system, pneumatic and static, landing gear and brakes, environmental systems.
2 hrs Simulator:
LOFT IFR Flight, abnormal procedures, system failures
Day Two Afternoon
Thunderstorm Avoidance (methods to avoid convective weather)
Multi-engine Enroute and Terminal (engine out procedures)
2 hrs Simulator:
LOFT IFR Flight, abnormal procedures, system failures
Day Three Morning
2 hrs Classroom:
FAR’s Part 61
FAR’s Part 91
2 hrs Simulator:
LOFT IFR Flight, abnormal procedures, system failures

Thanks for the question. Our 2 1/2 day Cessna 421 Recurrent is only $1699. You will get 10 hours of sim time, all flown left seat, alone with your instructor, a 2 hour C421 systems review, and 6 hours of computer based advanced ifr topic ground school. The 3 1/2 day Twin Cessna Initial is $2199 and the 2 1/2 day Twin Cessna Recurrent is $1699.
RTC is located in East Central Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. American Airlines current flies in and out of KCMI, which is about 1 mile south of RTC.
Some pilots prefer to fly into BMI (Bloomington, IL) or Indianapolis or Chicago. Bloomington is a 1 hour by car, Chicago and Indianapolis are 2 hours by car.
