I recently purchased a 1972 baron 58. I have about 3500 hours , fir current and about 600 hours in a 58p from 25 years ago. I am current in a 55 right now, flying about 30 hours per year for the past several years. Do you recommend initial or recurrent?
Good question, Jay. Actually, the insurance company has the final say on whether you need Initial or Recurrent. We will be happy to give you either course. The Initial is only $400 more, you may want to consider it because you can never know your plane too well. Call your insurance broker today and ask which course they prefer you take.
Does the Baron recurrent serve as a BFR and IPC?
I have attended RTC and Flight Safety with Inital and recurrent training for our 1990 Baron 58. We are putting factory remaned engines and some new avionics in the month of March. The avionics will include a Garmin 530W and a Garmin GMX 200. Do you have a location that has a simulator with this equipment?
Thank you,
Pat Hayward
Thanks for your question, Pat. Our Baron sim features a Garmin 430. There are so many options today for pilots, that it is all but impossible to find a simulator to exactly replicate your plane. This fact does not diminish the value of simulator training. When you train in a plane, the instructor reaches over and covers your instrument. You automatically know what instrument he is failing and when. In the sim, he does it without you knowing. This replicates real world flying. It happens just as it does in real life, without you seeing it. This trains the pilot has to constantly keep ahead of the plane. We hope you come again this year.
I’ve owned my 58P for about 17 years and have done SimCom annually with the last 10 years or so as a 2 day refresher. Probably have nearly 3,000 hours in the same airplane and am currently flying 200-300 hours a year out of PA.
Your course would be very convenient for me but I’d like to squeeze it into two days over a Sat-Sun weekend. Possible?
Finished SimCom in Octo
Absolutely yes!!! We can get you done over the weekend. Call as soon as you can for the choice of best dates. The number to call is 800-727-1017.
Dear Michael,
Thanks for your interest in RTC. Yes, we can help you. As you may already know, the FAA doesn’t allow IPC’s in sims anymore. As long as you are inside the 12 months, we are good to go. Call us for details. Our 2 1/2 day BE 58P Recurrent is only $1499 and features 10 hours of sim time, all flown left seat, alone with your instructor. You also get a 2 hour systems review along with 6 hours of computer based advanced ifr topic ground school. Our courses are run 7 days a week, on demand. Call us and let us know when you want to come. 800 727 1014.
Thanks again,
Mary
Thanks, Sanjayoraon, for your question. We recommend you consider our Baron Initial Transition Training. The 3 1/2 day course is only $1899US and gets you 10 hours of sim time and a full day of systems and performance. We can also assist you with your hotel accomodations.
We look forward to working with you in the near future.
I am currently getting a 1972 B 58 worked up and upgraded. I have about 1700 hours in a 55 which crashed in november. When I have completed the 58 I will have an ASPEN PFD 1000 and a Garmin GTN 750 plus some other stuff with a KFC 200AP
Ihave been flying about 100 hours a year but I have an insurance company requirement for annual Instrument Competency Checks now. (not from the crasI wasn’t flying the airplane.)
I had the Simcom Initial about 20 years ago and it does not appear as if they have changed their sim in that time
1. What sort of sim do you use? Any motion or just visual
2. If I bring along my flight instructor/alternate pilot what is the cost for a second pilot at the same time. I know you use a single seat trainer or so says your website. Any chance to double up like we did with Simcom?
3 How far in advance do we have to book to get a session around the beginning of March??
